​Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency, Haruna Iddrisu has for the first time reacted to news making the rounds that he intends to abdicate his seat in parliament and ready himself as flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024, MyNewsGh.com has gathered.
Haruna Iddrisu who is currently serving his fourth term in parliament at a public event stated that his ambition to be a flagbearer of the NDC and subsequently president lies in the hands of God but for now he was focused on delivering his tenure and seeking a fifth term.

“This should bring to rest all the speculations about Haruna’s political ambition. The other part of my political future is until God and Allah decides”, he told constituents last weekend at an event MyNewsGh. com covered.

The Tamale South lawmaker since last year, has been a subject of discussion on various platforms as to whether he would be running for torch bearer of the party in the future or not considering the clouds he has within the umbrella family.

In a subtle response to one of such claims, soft spoken leader on the minority in parliament said “for now I’m leading NDC as a minority leader in Parliament. Leave the Question of me becoming a Flagbearer to the future. I’ve come very far”.

Meanwhile, the Editor-In- Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr is on record to have advised the young politician not to put his name forward for the flagbearer position now saying he needs to wait a while.

“Haruna Iddrisu is very young, very nice guy. I’m not sure whether he’s ready to put himself in it. If I were to advise him anyway, I’d tell him to bid his time. Well, his name has popped up but if I were him, I’d wait awhile”. He said.

Source: My Joy Online - Controversial legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw will run the affairs of Ghana in 2024 if all goes according to plan.The legal practitioner is preparing to quit his legal profession to venture into politics as an independent candidate.According to him, he will be the first independent candidate to win an election in Ghana.
​“I will be the president of Ghana…look at me 2024. I will be the first president who will not join a political party. The first independent candidate [to win elections] in 2014,” he told Lexis Bill in an interview on Drive Time on Joy FM.
“All the other parties will have to break up and come and join me,” he added.
His campaign will focus on helping the poor in the rural areas “and solving people’s problem nationwide.”
Running under the motto: “Truth Stands”, Maurice Ampaw noted that politicians over the years, with the exception of current president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, have not been truthful to Ghanaians.

Source: Ultimate FM Ghana - A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana (UG) Dr Isaac Owusu Mensah has predicted doom for the former President John Dramani Mahama if he attempts to contest in the 2024 elections with Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as his contender.
​He envisioned that the Vice President will beat the former President hands down if he dares to contest.

Dr Owusu Mensah said the former President who campaigned vigorously on the Northern factor will not have the opportunity to do so if Dr Bawumia who is equally a Northerner contests on the ticket of NPP.

Speaking with Kwame Adinkra on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo, he said it will be difficult for Mr Mahama to win the elections arguing that the Northern factor will be null and void.

According to him, Mr Mahama is not a good candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 elections adding that he has a chance to win the 2024 elections if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) fails to deliver.

The Political Science Lecturer advised the former President John Dramani Mahama not to be pushed by his party supporters to contest the 2020 presidential elections.

He argued that the ruling NPP will campaign against Mr Mahama on the basis of teachers and nurses allowances cancellation, reintroduction of taxes on import duties and Kayayeis among others.

Dr Owusu Mensah indicated that it will be herculean task for the NDC and the former President to convince Ghanaians that these allowances and taxes will be abolished if voted into power again.

‘Mahama will be beaten more than he was in 2016, the campaign will be very easier for the NPP to use the taxes against him, it will be very difficult for him to win the elections. 

Mahama had access to State resources which NPP didn’t have but they have now. 

Mahama’s winning or losing 2020 elections will also depend on how the NPP will conduct themselves from now to 2024, I know the way NPP has started with the free SHS, one million –one constituency will be very difficult for NDC to win. 

2020 is a complex one for NDC, Mahama is not the best candidate for NDC in 2020. He can contest 2024 elections but that will depend on the NPP’s candidate. 

So if NPP’s candidate for 2024 is Dr Bawumia, then it will be a very tough one, the Northern concept will be null and void because they are all from the North,’ he said.

He suggested to the former President to find something meaningful doing to fulfil his personal fulfilment and self actualisation.

Maverick Brong Ahafo Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC says President Akufo-Addo will be contracted to govern the country after exhausting the mandated eight years approved by the constitution.
For him, President Akufo-Addo will win 2020 elections and complete a 4-year term until 2024.

Ghanaians, he says, will force him to rule for additional four years based on satisfactory performance from his government.

“Nana Addo’s government has made the presidency an envy of many. There is no way Ghanaians will disappoint him by not voting for him. He will continue his presidency till 2024 and beyond. In fact, we (Ghanaians) will sign a contract with him to rule for additional 4 years,” he said.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, “Dwaso Nsem” on Wednesday, Abronye contended that Nana Addo will emulate the achievements of ex-Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe who was ousted recently at age 92.

According to Abronye, President Akufo-Addo is fulfilling his electoral promises to Ghanaians, something he says will get them to vote massively for him and the NPP.
